Cigarette Taxes in South Carolina
Cigarette -Tobacco Taxes in South Carolina
How long will it take for the “Smokers of South Carolina” to say enough? When are the Smokers of SC going to stand up to the “Bleeding Heart Whiners”? I call for a complete “Boycott” on Cigarettes and Tobacco Products! Let them get their Tax Dollars from elsewhere!
Federal Taxes and South Carolina Taxes on cigarettes have caused a $9.99 carton of generic cigarettes to go to a ridiculous price of $24.50 per carton in the last year or so.
Some economists worry that tobacco taxes unfairly target the poor. In my opinion, I think they are correct in their worries!
What does our government and the “Bleeding Heart Whiners” against Tobacco, think they are going to do by raising taxes on Tobacco?
They raise taxes on tobacco that they think causes Healthcare expenses to rise and possibly don’t use themselves. Of course they have plenty of “Hot Air” without smoking.
For those concerned about Healthcare Rates rising, let me explain that “Smokers” pay a higher premium than you do for Healthcare anyway. The “Smokers” legally pay their way.
Furthermore, I don’t think we have seen innocent people lamed up or die because of cigarettes like you have by Alcohol and it’s Abusers. Oh! Wait!… that hit a political nerve didn’t it? How many public servants have we heard about getting DUI’s? But, that’s right… they get off with a slap on the hand and “Don’t Do That Again.” Seems that our government is always passing laws for the rest of us, that they are exempt from themselves. (Stay tuned to my Blog for more on Alcohol, Government Exemptions from Laws Passed, and much more. Coming Soon!).
Our Government and the “Bleeding Heart Whiners” imposing Cigarette Taxes is nothing more than a “Witch Hunt”! But, directed toward a “Sin” (smokers) in their eyes.
Sin taxes like this, are always like a two-edged sword:
• If our government wants to maximize revenue, it can’t impose a tax so high that it will discourage too many sinners.
• On the other hand, if the goal is to discourage the sin (smokers), the state would want to maximize the tax rate or flat ban the activity (smoking) like they have in many restaurants and public places.
• Trouble is, if everyone quit smoking, revenues will eventually dry up.
• What will you go after then? I know! You’ll go after another one of the peoples habits that doesn’t cramp your style or that you don’t use.
The government and “Bleeding Heart Whiners” have succeeded in destroying jobs in SC and many other places/states by your unfair taxes on cigarettes.
I hope that soon, the guilty ones that came up with these unfair taxes, will experience these same type of unfair taxes on Elite Parties, Restaurants and Alcohol that hit home for them.
It is interesting that the “Bleeding Heart Whiners” have not thought this through completely. You are destroying jobs like in the picture above, which in turn destroys a tax base on which this country has relied on for many, many years.
There are two other problems worth thinking about: Some states that have securitized their tobacco settlement money may receive less income from these deals if their cigarette sales fall. So, while their tax revenues may rise, lower demand may temper their overall revenue benefits.
With our economy in the serious condition as it is, it’s not like we have tons of jobs available for the people you have or will put out of work.
Below you will find more farmers harvesting in the tobacco fields. I don’t see them putting any chemicals in the tobacco as they harvest it.
I think the Cancer causing Chemicals are what you are after, which are placed in the tobacco during processing by some tobacco product companies after they receive the tobacco from the farmers.
Just recently, Tobacco Companies were forced by our government laws to add the New FSC (Fire Safety Chemical) to the paper that is used in cigarettes. Has our government lost its mind, adding more chemicals to an already hazardous tobacco product? They probably don’t know the long term effects of that chemical called FSC. Just like many drugs that FDA allows on the Consumer Shelves for the general public without being thoroughly tested.
God only knows the health risks in the FSC chemical. So you “Bleeding Heart Whiners” may have cut off your Nose to Spite your face on this law you allowed your legislators pass.
Not to mention what the government and the “Bleeding Heart Whiners” have done with the subsidies that pay farmers NOT to plant crops. This was implemented to control prices of our food supply from having too much on the market that would have driven prices down. Sounds like Greed and Corporate America controlling things to me. Of course you know that this put many farmers out of business but, that is another subject for another Blog I will soon write.
Smoking is a Personal choice, if I choose to “Smoke”, that is my life, as long as I respect others around me. As far as I know, we still live in America, a Free Country, and so far we are still allowed to make our own choices. Our Freedom will Stop, if we continue to allow the government and the “Bleeding Heart Whiners” to take our Freedoms away. Your ban on Smoking and High Taxes on tobacco has infringed on my rights as an American Citizen, and I resent that!
Respect you say? Now if you come to my home, or to my farm, I do not smoke around you, even if on the outside if I know you do not smoke. If I choose to eat out, I will go to a restaurant that allows smoking and I sit in the “Designated Smoking Area” the restaurant has provided or I will not smoke until I leave that restaurant. That’s respect!
But yet many, including the “Bleeding Heart Whiners”, drive around in their gas belching, puffing and smoking automobiles and do not give me the same respect. Not to mention some of the perfume and cologne worn by many in restaurants and public places that I am allergic to.
In my opinion, respect is a two way street. So what are you going to do about your infringements on my rights to breathe allergy free air in restaurants and public places?
Now… ”Government Control” and “Bleeding Heart Whiners”;
• What are you going to do when you completely destroy our tax base?
• How will you get the money to support your Extravagant Lifestyle?
• What will you do then? I know… you will try to enslave us in your FEMA Concentration Camps and work us like your ancestors did the slaves many years ago.
One thing you haven’t realized, “We the People” are tired of your infringement on our Rights, taking our freedoms away and taxing us to death.
If I recall history correctly, the United States was founded to get away from Unfair Taxation and Tyranny.
• What ever made you think that the people of the United States would not eventually see through your “Evil Plan“.
• You are trying to do the same to us, as they did to Columbus and his generation?
How long will it take for the “Smokers of South Carolina” to say enough? I call for a complete “Boycott” on Cigarettes and Tobacco Products!
Let’s show them that the tax dollars they are depending on from our cigarettes, will not line their Greedy Pockets to splurge on Trips to see their Mistresses or to Host their Elite Parties .
By the way, “We were Born to Die”! Not one of us will get out of this life alive!

U got me in trouble, lolololo… but I totally agree with you. Shepard Smith said once on Fox, banning cigarettes, people what will be next? Something we all should be thinking about! It has gotten to the point where we will go to jail if we want prayer in the public eye. People say we need Education more, why? People have lost so many jobs now that have college education. My father never graduated from high school BUT, he worked and got schooling through his employer, and retired as a QA Supervisior. But he also worked for a Union. Hard work and paying taxes should be enough, not rob the working person. I thought we lived in American… Land of the Free and Home of the Brave. What exactly are our men & women in the Armed Forces fighting for now??? Is it so our government can kill us off and take what little we do have now???
